American Airlines Doesn’t Like Letting Your Traxo Account Access Your Data

American Airlines Doesn’t Like Letting Your Traxo Account Access Your Data

Traxo, the Dallas-based travel startup that bills itself as Mint.com for travel, has run into a roadblock from American Airlines.

According to an email sent to Traxo members yesterday, American Airlines has asked Traxo, and apparently all other aggregation services, to stop accessing the AA.com website on behalf of their users.

This means Traxo, won’t be able to keep your AA info up to date until they work out some kind of arrangement with the airline. As a Traxo user myself, and AA frequent flier, this is disappointing news.

Traxo is hoping to reach an agreement with American soon that restores service.

Here is the email they sent to members:

Dear Traxo Member,

American Airlines has contacted us, along with all other travel aggregation services, asking that we not access the AA.com website on your behalf. While we firmly believe that you, the traveler, have the right to access your account information via any means that is convenient to you, we are nonetheless making a good-faith effort to work with American on this issue.

We are temporarily suspending Traxo support for American Airlines, beginning today Wednesday, March 14, 2012. This unfortunately means that you will not be able to track your American Airlines related information (itineraries, balances, status, etc.) on Traxo. We are taking this step in the hopes of putting in place a long-term agreement with American Airlines. This Traxo change will not have any impact on your actual American Airlines account or mileage balance.

We apologize for what we hope is a temporary inconvenience. We always strive to make Traxo the best place to manage all your travel information, and we appreciate your continued support of Traxo!

Thank You,

The Traxo Team

Traxo Launches New Travel Trophies Feature

Traxo Launches New Travel Trophies Feature

Travel startup Traxo has recently released a new Foursquare-like feature they are calling Travel Trophies. Users can earn trophies for each State, Country or Continent they visit during their travels.

The trophies section of the site also allows you to brag about your loyalty status, as well as other details.

Here are my trophies as an example:

Here is their press release giving more details:

Introducing Traxo Travel Trophies™, Industry First

With Traxo Travel Trophies, you’ll now automatically earn trophies for all the places that you visit. You can track and share travel accomplishments, watch your travel collection grow, and see how it compares to that of your friends.

1. Regional Trophies: Collect trophies for all the continents, countries and US states you have been to or plan to visit. Once you return from a trip, Traxo will automatically award you the trophy for the new destinations you visited – there is no need for an extra step, i.e. placing a pin on a map.

2. Travel Summary: Want to see how many countries your friends have visited? Wondering who has been to all seven continents or 50 states? You can find answers to these questions and more by taking a look at your friends’ profile page on Traxo .

3. Loyalty Status: Perhaps ever since you watched “Up in the Air”, you’ve been looking for a not-so-subtle way to brag about your travel loyalty program status. Now you can. Traxo Travel Trophies also allows you to see which elite travel programs your friends belong to and proudly display your own Double Executive Titanium status.

4. Share Trophies: And for you social networkers, we’ve also included an optional feature that allows you to brag about, and share your new trophies with your friends on both Facebook and Twitter. Simply click on the trophy you want to post and share.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about Traxo Travel Trophies. If for any reason you prefer not to display your travel credentials (as we never display private or future trips), simply adjust the privacy settings for your Traxo Trophy Trophies Module at any time. To ensure you receive credit for all your trophies, be sure to link all of your travel programs to Traxo today.

Traxo Travel Trophies are already on, just log into Traxo.com now to check them out. Safe travels from the Traxo team!

Traxo Launches Free Loyalty Points Tracker, Contest to Win $500

Traxo Launches Free Loyalty Points Tracker, Contest to Win $500

DALLAS, May 17 /PRNewswire/ — Traxo (www.traxo.com), the home base for travel, adds another tool to simplify travel: Traxo Loyalty Tracker keeps track of airline, hotel, and car reward balances, synching all loyalty program miles and points on one centralized dashboard. It is the first to display all miles and points balances alongside the traveler’s entire trip itinerary on one consolidated travel home base. A traveler’s miles and points from all their accounts get automatically loaded onto Traxo so users see balances, program status levels, recent transactions and the date when miles and points are about to expire. Last year over 150,000 travelers had approximately 1.5 billion frequent flyer miles expire due to inactivity (equivalent to over 55,000 cross-country trips), according to InsideFlyer Magazine.  Traxo’s Loyalty Tracker helps prevent travelers from losing miles by always displaying up-to-date loyalty account information and proactively notifying members before miles expire. It works seamlessly with the existing Traxo travel dashboard and is free for Traxo members.

The introduction of Traxo Loyalty Tracker also comes with a “Win Trips for Lost Miles” sweepstakes, where Traxo will award a total of ten $500 gift cards over the course of ten weeks. Users can choose between American Airlines or Travelocity Hotel gift cards. Enter by signing up for the free Traxo Loyalty Tracker service (at http://www.traxo.com/web/sweepstakes), and receive an additional entry for each new or existing Traxo member who becomes your Traxo buddy. Once every two weeks for ten weeks beginning June 2, 2010, Traxo will award a randomly selected winner a $500 travel gift card, with one grand prize winner being chosen to receive five travel gift cards on August 10, 2010.

“We’re thrilled to add this free Loyalty Tracker functionality to Traxo — it’s a highly requested feature that will help our users track all of their loyalty miles and points on one page, provide them with key information as they book their next trip and help them save money by enabling them to see and use their balances before they expire,” said Andres Fabris, co-founder and CEO of Traxo.

“The three most powerful words for travelers today are: simplify, simplify, simplify.  Intelligent travel simplicity is exactly what Traxo delivers,” said Randy Petersen, founder of InsideFlyer Magazine and FlyerTalk.com. “The use of the Traxo Loyalty Tracker will help prevent frequent flyer miles from expiring,” Petersen continued.

Traxo creates one itinerary for the traveler, automatically gathering information from all the user’s travel accounts online without the need to forward confirmation emails. Itineraries are also updated automatically when changes are made and Traxo’s award-winning Facebook integration enables easier sharing of travel plans with friends outside of the Traxo site. Featuring content and recommendations from Uptake, Traxo also aids in the trip planning, making the overall travel experience more enjoyable and streamlined.
