Swingly Rolls Out @AskSwingly Twitter Q&A Service

Swingly Rolls Out @AskSwingly Twitter Q&A Service

Andy Hickl, CEO of Richardson-based Swingly.com, announced on his blog today that the company rolled out their @AskSwingly service.

@AskSwingly is a “a Twitter-based semantic search service that automatically finds answers to questions — wherever they can be found on the Internet.”

The service allows you to tweet pretty much any plain-English question to @AskSwingly and the service will tweet you a response with an answer within minutes. Hickl says the service currently works best with questions around factual data and isn’t able to do mathematical calculations or “tricky comparisons (Who is older, Colin Firth or Hugh Grant?).”

Hickl states in his post that the services knows answers to over 25 billion questions. It definitely knew the answer to the one I tossed at it:

The link @AskSwingly provided in the answer seemed a bit odd and I wasn’t quite sure if it was supposed to mean this is where it found the answer. I did find it interesting that the website provided in the answer wasn’t anywhere to be found in the first few pages of Google results for the same question.

Given that it took a couple minutes for @AskSwingly to respond, it’s probably still a lot faster to find your answer by throwing it into Google. However, if that doesn’t work out @AskSwingly just might be the ticket!
