April GeekMeet Happy Hour Details Set

Want to meet more geeks? Well then the GeekMeet happy hour is probably just the event you need to attend. They’ve just announced the details for their April event.. Here they are from the GeekMeet website:

Ahhhh, springtime! It’s a time of renewal, rebirth, and fresh starts. Expanding on that thought, perhaps springtime is an appropriate time to try new things.

The March Happy Hour held at one of our regular venues was a well-attended success. For April, let’s try a new place! New not only to GeekMeet, but also to Dallas. Opened only 14 months ago, Komali Contemporary Mexican Cuisine has burst onto the Dallas foodie scene with raving reviews (http://www.komalirestaurant.com/reviews).

Known for a fresh, contemporary spin on traditional Mexican cuisine, Komali’s bar offers excellent cocktails and award-winning margaritas as well. Please join your fellow GeekMeeters for introductions, conversations, connections, and libations!

Located on the corner of Cole and Fitzhugh, next to Salum Restaurant, and just off Central Expressway (US-75), Komali Contemporary Mexican Cuisine is a new and convenient addition to the Downtown, Uptown, Park Cities, and Oaklawn areas. Free valet parking is available after 6:00pm, as well as street and lot parking.

$10 gets you into the event and access to light appetizers and extended happy hour pricing until 8:00p.

When: Thursday, April 19, 2012, 6:00-9:00pm
Cost: $10
Where: Komali Contemporary Mexican Cuisine: 4152 Cole Ave, Suite 106, Dallas, TX 75204
www.komalirestaurant.com
Parking: Free parking in Komali’s lot, street parking along Cole, and across Cole at Sigel’s. Complimentary Valet will be available after 6:00pm.

From Idea to Raising $7 Million from Facebook Co-Founder – Don’t Miss the ShopSavvy Story

From Idea to Raising $7 Million from Facebook Co-Founder – Don’t Miss the ShopSavvy Story

The next LAUNCH DFW Dallas Startup Happy Hour has been announced and we’re extremely happy to finally be able to sit down with Rylan Barnes and Alex Muse, co-founders of ShopSavvy.

ShopSavvy is probably one of the most exciting and interesting startups to come out of North Texas since I moved here in 2007. At this month’s event, we’ll talk about how Rylan Barnes developed the initial app, GoGart, won an Android developer challenge, met Alex, formed Big In Japan, struck some big deals, became ShopSavvy, almost sold, and eventually raised $7 million dollars led by Eduardo Saverin.

If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, make sure you do soon over on Meetup. If you’re not yet a member of the group, you will need to apply for (free) membership. Preference is given to technology entrepreneurs actively building local companies and active tech investors.

See you there!

Proxomo Happy Hour @ CoHabitat

Beat the heat on Monday, August 9 at Happy Hour at CoHabitat, sponsored by Proxomo Software and the guys at OpenCamp. There’ll be networking, and it’ll be a good chance to talk to people who are attending OpenCamp (August 27-29; and don’t miss the Army’s Golden Knights jump to open the event). There will be an ice-cold keg, wine, and plenty of good company.

About Proxomo:
In September, Proxomo will launch it’s beta web platform that allows developers to cut weeks or months off the application development cycle. Proxomo’s API will allow third-party developers to leverage this platform in any given social context. By using Proxomo’s automated relevance filter, your users’ satisfaction in social network apps will skyrocket.

Startup Happy Hour 2.0

Startup Happy Hour 2.0

The Startup Happy Hour has been one of the best regular startup events in Dallas for the past two years. Thousands of new connections have been made, companies have been formed as a result and it has really fostered the community growth we’ve seen.

Changes are coming to the event that is going to take it to the next level.

NEW VENUE: The High Tech Bar has been a good home for the event, but the parking situation really annoying. The new location will be at Architel’s new facility in the North Tower of Campbell Centre (the gold building on the corner of I75 and Northwest Highway where JR Ewing used to work).

NEW DATE: The first Monday made a lot of sense when we first began (the first happy hour just happened to be on a Monday), but we eventually remembered that it fell on the same night as Monday Night Football (this is Texas BTW). The new date will be the fifth Wednesday of the month. The inaugural event will be held October 27th, 2010 (subsequent events on Nov 24, Dec 22, Jan 26, Feb 23).

EXCITING NEW FORMAT: Cocktails and more cocktails seemed like a great idea two years ago – easy to organize and easy to host – but we can do better. Starting in October we will begin the event at 5PM with cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres, then at 6PM we will have a speaker/program for 30-45 minutes and then have more cocktails and networking until around 8PM. Each quarter we hope to attract a ’significant’ speaker, but don’t worry each month we will have really interesting speakers.

Now for the most important part. The new online home for Startup Happy Hour is at Meetup.com – http://www.meetup.com/Dallas-Startup-Happy-Hour/

It is extremely important that you join the group and RSVP to the events you will be coming to as this shows our potential speakers they are going to have an audience. We’re already talking to some amazing people about speaking at the event so please take a minute to join the group and RSVP!

Welcome to Startup Happy Hour 2.0!
