Inaugural tech conference aims to connect millennials and Gen Z through the power of virtual reality
Glamping, virtual reality, techies and live music this weekend on a ranch about 25 miles outside of Fort Worth?
No, we’re not talking about the set of a new Texas indie film. We’re talking about RebelCon and we’ll bet serious money that this two-day conference is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.
The first annual event will make its official debut this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a jam packed roster of events and influencers from around the country. Designed with millennials and Gen Z in mind, RebelCon will take place at Hollow Hill Ranch, a scenic piece of property located on 80 acres in Parker County, northeast of Weatherford, and about 6 miles southwest of Azle.
Produced by Rebel Role Model, a Dallas-based digital media platform, RebelCon offers a weekend of fun for CEOs, startups, college students, investors, and side hustlers, with a special focus on the emerging technologies dominating today’s business landscape. But while the focus is on tech and business strategy, the conference is also an opportunity for business professionals across the generations to develop long lasting relationships.
The event will showcase 36 speakers including media maven Travis Chamber of Chamber Media, David Leche of Sunstaches (as seen on ABC’s Shark Tank) , World Record winner and “Fastest Female Racer” Leslie Poterfield, VR pioneer Lisa Wong, Tech Wildcatters’ Ricky Tejapaibul, Microsoft Garage’s Mike Pell, and co-inventor of CRM Industry, Mike Muhney.

The event will also feature five local musicians, including 14-year-old rising star Remy Reilly, hip-hop connoisseur 88 Killa, sunshine soul singer Maya Piata, electro-pop artist LEV, and blues-rocker Bryce Bangs.
Rebel Role Model CEO Nancy Coblenz believes VR will be a powerful bridge at this year’s inaugural event. “Augmented and virtual reality harnesses the power of emotion and first hand experiences like no other technology,” she says. “It is by far the most impactful encounter one can have to connect with others.”
