startup weekend fort worth

There is nothing stopping you from creating and launching the ultimate business…if you’re ready to hustle, work hard AND do it all in 54 hours.

Techstars Startup Weekend Fort Worth, which kicks off this Friday, is the place for startup enthusiasts, innovators, designers, developers, marketers and creatives to come together for one weekend to pitch, create and launch a business. The 54 hour event will take place at the UNT Health Science Center and is open to participants from all backgrounds and skills to attend; either to pitch their idea, help with business creation, or volunteer as a coach. Your ticket includes meals for the entire weekend, coaching from high-level business leaders, and an experience like no other.

The committed group of organizers and volunteers that make this event happen every year are truly cooking up something special this weekend that you don’t want to miss. If you love Fort Worth as much as we do and want to support the local startup community in a big way, here are five reasons why you need to grab your tickets now.

#1 Friday Night Pitch Party

Starting at 7pm, aspiring entrepreneurs will get a chance to pitch their innovative ideas to potential teammates consisting of skilled developers, designers, marketing specialists and individuals with business and startup know-how willing to jump in and work intensively for the weekend. Ideas are voted on and teams are formed, and the journey from pitch to startup begins. Special guest Dr. Sean Wise will share inspirational and tactical wisdom. Wise is a university professor, bestselling author, international business speaker, and partner at Ryerson Futures, a seed stage venture capital fund and technology accelerator.

#2 If You Build It, They Will Come

Startup Weekend FW is a crash course in everything you need to know to launch a business. The newly selected teams continue to work on Saturday and Sunday building their businesses; planning, developing, designing and marketing. They receive guidance and coaching from seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners who volunteer their expertise. No business is built by itself and startups are more successful when they are supported by a team of experts with varied skills or lead by a visionary with great ideas.

“The real value comes in working with incredibly driven and creative individuals to take an idea from concept to execution using lean tactics in a high pressure environment.” says Cameron Cushman, Startup Weekend Fort Worth Coordinator.

#3 Serious Tribe Building

Expect to gain an incredible new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager, like you, to change the world.

#4 Pitch Perfect

The weekend concludes Sunday evening when the teams conduct their final pitch to a panel of Fort Worth celebrity judges. The winners and all the participants along with the coaches and judges enjoy drinks, light snacks and networking to complete the weekend’s events. Tickets for the Kickoff Party & Final Pitch Celebration are only $10.

#5 Because Fort Worth

The North Texas startup community gets that much stronger when each region comes together for events like Startup Weekend. We believe in the future of Fort Worth and understand the role that entrepreneurs play in taking the local ecosystem to the next level. They need us just as much as we need them.

Will we see you there?
