Dallas New Tech is one of DFW’s longest running monthly showcase events for new and exciting companies and technologies. The format is ever evolving.
Over the summer, we launched (pun intended) a cool, new event segment at Dallas New Tech designed to shine a light on North Texas CEOs taking bold ideas and creative innovation to the next level.
For October’s meetup, former Rise CEO Nick Kennedy takes the stage.

#LaunchCEO: Nick Kennedy
Company: Surf Air (Formerly Rise)
As the President of Surf Air, Nick is focused on creating a new category of air travel that eliminates the hassles associated with frequent flying. Surf Air has flown several hundred thousand frequent travelers throughout the US and Europe giving them the ability to be home for breakfast, in another city for meetings and back in time for soccer practice. He was the Founder and CEO of RISE which was acquired by Surf Air.
In a very short time he assembled a world-class team and leveraged his technology and client service background to develop an accessible, high-touch and highly scalable business model that has positioned the company to lead the next generation of air travel. Nick’s career started with EDS, and then shifted to helping build successful entrepreneurial ventures that were acquired by companies like NCR and Nanthealth (IPO 2016). During that time, he accumulated over two million airline miles while losing hundreds of hours of productivity and time with family due to the highly inefficient and broken commercial airline industry.
As a natural entrepreneur and problem solver, Nick focused on a building a company that would make private flying more accessible and economical for everyday business people but without the expensive capital and operational burdens associated with owning planes.
Nick lives in Dallas with his funny and brilliant wife of 19 years and their three children. He is an avid sportsman who enjoys baseball (he played catcher in college), Peloton™ (ibrake4donuts), is an avid reader (60+ books/year) and has completed the Ironman® triathlon (barely).
