VR technology is on the rise in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and many companies from advertisers to game devs are jumping on the VR train. One company, 900lbs of creative, aims to provide viewers with incredible virtual and augmented reality experiences. They have been covered by a host news sites such as Dallas Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, and NBC DFW channel who have highlighted their accomplishments creating unique virtual adventures. With a team made of experimental designers, interactive artists and visual content developers, 900lbs of creative strives to create one of kind wow interactions.
Seeking to stand out from the virtual crowd, 900lbs has teamed up with several companies that found a need to provide innovative interactive explorations for consumers. These ventures have led to partnerships with Dallas Innovation Alliance, the augmented reality tour at Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the augmented Vespa ad, and Shell’s 360-degree virtual reality app. Most recently the company has joined forces with Vroom, an online car dealership who wanted to provide a space where buyers enter an interactive virtual showroom.
900lbs worked with Vroom to film 15 “affordable performance” vehicles in a 360-degree video. It represents a wide range of Vroom’s inventory. Once the customer puts on the virtual headset they are transported to the virtual showroom, where they can customize and explore several car and truck models. 900lbs didn’t just stop at the showroom; they even gave the customer the ability to jump inside the vehicle of their choice and take it for a virtual ride. This is just the first phase of the Vroom augmented experiences, which also set up pop-stores in Phoenix on August 12, 2016, for people to test out the technology for the first time. 900lbs and Vroom plan to continue their partnership to bring even more features to the showroom in 2017. They are looking to bring pop-stores to Texas sometime later this year.
900lbs of creative is a company that endeavors to create unique experiences with their innovation lab and marketing studio. They constantly look for new and exciting ways to use existing or emerging technologies that would give their partners or future clients a leg up on the competition.
