Part Coworking, Part Photography Studio Opens in McKinney in May, Is Devoted to ‘Kick-Ass’ Media Production

Creating In Cahoots — a purposefully designed part coworking studio, part photography studio that is wholly devoted to the production of media — will be opening its doors to the public in McKinney on or about May 1, in order to provide a workspace for digital content creators who are looking for spaces to create.

This workspace fills a very particular need that founder Brian Pierce realized was necessary. There simply were no workspaces like this intended to serve photographers or content creators who reside north of Dallas. As the idea incubated, it grew. Creating In Cahoots is about more than providing desks, conference rooms and spaces to store equipment. It’s about providing the spaces where creators can intentionally collaborate.

Fun ideas are in the works to create metal sliding door backdrops that provide an industrial feel for professional and hobbyist photographers who are looking for that extra sense of design in their shoots. A brick wall and wood wall are also ideas currently under exploration. Exciting textures are what the studio available for rental envisions for its clientele.

For the coworking end of the business — open seating, private desks, conference rooms and two private offices — are available for rent. The eventual goal of this space is to transform the knowledge sets people carry into workshops, seminars and webinars in order share methods and grow into better creators.

The first workshop of this type Creating in Cahoots has on order is called “Hustle & Heart,” and is a one-day session featuring Misti Davis of Pink Fly Photography. Davis has been producing creative portraiture for high school seniors for the past six years.

Her work has been featured in leading photography blogs, including Design Aglow, Seniorologie, Senior Style Guide, Inside the Locker and I Heart Faces. She has also previously taught other senior photographers at noteworthy conferences, including Seniorologie Tour and Conference 12, and regularly holds get-togethers for photographers to share ideas about craft and skill. This session will focus on an introduction to the market that is senior photography, as well as marketing, styling, working with a makeup artist, and posing and lighting.
