Dallas Meet-Ups Continue to Grow

Dallas’ startup scene is getting bigger by the day, and there are few better measures of success than the number of get-together’s taking place in the city, which are increasing with every year.

This week, for example, there’s an exciting developer meet-up to look forward to. Starting on Thursday, April 7, the 6th annual Lonestar PHP event kicks off at the Addison Conference Center. The event, which takes place in Dallas every year, runs from April 7 to April 9.

This year there’s a whole bunch of great speakers to look forward to, including Keith Casey, director of product at Austin-based, who’ll give a talk about APIs misbehaving, and Doris Chen, senior technology evangelist at Microsoft for the Western region of the United States, who’s set to discuss the topic “Building Websites That Work Everywhere.”

In total, some 250 attendees are expected at the event, including speakers and organizers.

The Lonestar PHP is just one of many such meetups to look forward to in the Dallas/Fort Worth area over the coming weeks and months. Just next week, for example, we’re busy gearing up for Dallas Startup Week, which will bring together the cream of the city’s entrepreneurial talent to showcase what they’re doing and how far the local startup scene has come. We’re also eagerly anticipating the Big Design Conference, a “must-attend event for user experience and usability professionals, digital marketers, designers, content strategists and developers.” The event kicks off on September 8.

Other events to look forward to later in the year include the Digital Summit Dallas, which takes place in December, and also The Global Entrepreneurship Week, which begins in November.

Events of this kind show that Dallas’s tech scene has come a long, long way, from the days when it was in the shadow of nearby Austin. Dallas is hot. Dallas is growing, Dallas is innovating, and it’s crying out for people like you to join in the fun, so don’t be afraid to take the plunge!

We’ll see you there!
