It’s Nacho Birthday, the smart and social way to celebrate

At this very moment, 850,000 people are celebrating their birthday in the United States. Nacho Birthday is an online crowdfunding platform intended to tap into the celebration of birthdays. Ryan Ogbeide, Founder of Nacho Birthday, presented at Dallas New Tech.

“Birthdays are the biggest celebrations on earth, recognized in almost every religion, every culture, every country,” said Ogbeide. As people grow older, though, people tend to see birthdays as “boring, meaningless, and unchanged,” he furthered.

That’s why Ogbeide’s team created NachoBirthday.com. “On NachoBirthday.com, we don’t tell you how to celebrate life,” said Ogbeide, noting “That’s not our job.” Their users take the platform and share what celebrating life means to each person. Some users will celebrate their birthday by donating to a favorite nonprofit, a fun night out on town, or they use NachoBirthday.com’s split payment option to give to a charity and a fun celebration. Nacho Birthday launched April 21st. They have over 3,000 registered users, 300 campaigns, and have raised over $20,000 for local charities. Average raised amount is $100. Like most crowdfunding platforms, Nacho Birthday takes 5 percent of everything raised.
