Name: Erin Ballard

CEO & Founder, Veux— an e-commerce website and app that combines the “wants” of the fashion industry to the “wants” of the non profit world. want. buy. give.

Hometown: New Orleans, but now Dallas.

Current Neighborhood: I live in the Park Cities. My office is located across 75 from the Bush library. Right now I office downtown at Alto 211 as part of the Tech Wildcatter Class of 2015. I love it down there. Something about the energy of the buildings and all the great entrepreneurial minds in one place.

Describe your typical day in one sentence: I wake up, get my four kids out the door, head downtown, work as hard as I can at a job I LOVE, leave work, drive carpool to dance, basketball or gymnastics and have dinner with my family.

What was your first job? My first job was an ice cream scooper at Fruzen Glage in Metairie, LA. I loved it.

Define a “startup hustler” in 140 characters: One who never gives up no matter what, who loves what she does, believes in what she does & knows she can make a difference.

What’s your drink? Huge fan of Rafa’s margaritas.

Finish this sentence: “Dallas got it right when…” They created an amazing downtown arts district. That area is so vibrant now, always filled with people. I love the energy in Klyde Warren on a sunny afternoon.

What can Dallas do better? Continue to create a walkable downtown. It is for sure getting there but a true vibrant downtown is crucial to our economy. Like Chicago, one of my favorite cities in the world. Everyone walks everywhere there, therefore creating this wonderful community.

What can’t you live without? Besides coffee, I can’t live without “my people” (what I call them), my husband and 4 children, my long time friends (you know who you are) and my mom and dad.

Finish this sentence: “The show you’ll catch me binge-watching is…” Castle. Really? I am addicted. New and Old episodes. Love it.

What’s the best place to get coffee in Dallas? Ascension Coffee on Oaklawn. Love the people and just an overall great cup of coffee.

It’s been a great day. Where do you go to celebrate? A Patio somewhere. Katy Trail is one of my favorites.

Pandora, Spotify, or Songza? Pandora definitely.

Who motivates you? My family motivates me. They are so supportive of everything I do and do not think it is crazy at all that I chose to reinvent myself at age 44 and start my own company doing something I am passionate about.

Tell us a random piece of trivia about yourself? I can only snap with my left hand. The right does not work at all and looks quite ridiculous when I try.
