1MC Weekly: Village and Gurrate

On Wednesday mornings from 9-10 AM, some of the most interesting business concepts in the Dallas area are presented to local professionals at the Dallas Entrepreneur Center. An extension of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups is a weekly community event promoting entrepreneurship and community engagement nationally. Two new entrepreneurs present each week, and with ample opportunities for other business owners and possible customers to provide feedback, companies receive valuable insight into their business models. With a growing audience, dozens visit 1MC each week for the caffeine, treats, and networking opportunities.

Last week, Chris Winn presented his app, Village. Village is an online platform built for parents, poised to take on Wikipedia and general internet searches as a source for parenting advice. Parents can download this app and then post questions to the local community of other member parents. Individuals or families who may have the solutions to such questions can post their answers online. Users can then choose to endorse any answer, should they feel that it is beneficial. The next time you or a fellow parent have questions regarding your children’s health, keep Village in mind and on hand.
