03 Apr Office With a View: The Best Places to Work Outside in DFW
We try not to say the “S” word around here. If you’ve lived in Texas long enough, you know that we have two seasons: winter and summer which is why that short promise of spring is all the more reason to spend time outdoors. If you’re like me and want to take advantage of this glorious weather, check out some of my favorite places to work outside from Dallas to Fort Worth so you can work and play without missing a spring beat!
The Wild Detectives
314 8th St, Oak Cliff, TX 75208
What do you do when you can’t decide between a beer garden or a bookstore? You venture into The Wild Detectives of course. Enjoy the curated collection of fiction and poetry while sipping on craft beer or local brews. Their patio is spacious and welcoming. No wonder they were voted “Best New Thing in Town 2014” by Dallas Observer.
9101 Hwy 26 Ste 101, North Richland Hills, TX 76180
Opt for Roots if you’re in mid-cities. What I love about this coffeehouse is that it is typically quiet, perfect for catching up on work and great for meet-ups. Try their unique menu items such as the “Foggy London” an earl grey tea with foamy milk or “Honey Vanilla Latte” a steamy cup of milk and espresso, sweetened with wild honey. Stick around for live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
915 Florence St, Fort Worth, TX 76102
This is the best place to get coffee in my humble opinion. The venue has a European feel with dark red walls and Mozart in the background. The baristas know people by name which can be cool and creepy. With 4 different kinds of espressos to choose from, I suggest spending a day there and trying them all. If you’re not sure what to order, Jeremy can mix up something tasty for you.
NYLO Dallas SouthSide
1325 S. Lamar, Dallas, TX 75215
NYLO which stands for New York Lofts is located on Southside. It’s the perfect medium between work and play. Enjoy the breath-taking view of the Dallas skyline from the rooftop bar. Plenty of conference and boarding rooms for meetings and events. Did we mention Terrace Bistro and Soda Bar are in the same place? Plan a day for work, play, and rest in one of their super chic lofts.
1621 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX 75207
Enjoy your favorite cocktail or latte in a fun and modern atmosphere in Dallas’ trendiest neighborhood – the Design District. Perks: Spacious patio and extensive wine list followed by delicious bites. It’s home of the most serious mixologists in town. These guys are serious about good drinks and coffee and have spent time perfecting their craft.
