With the amount of time that we spend on social networks, wouldn’t it be refreshing to know that some of that time could spent towards giving to others?
This is the mission behind Sharitabl, a social network that passes ad revenue on to charities and global causes selected by users.
Sharitabl explains their model on the website — they share revenues that come from third party ads, sponsorships and partnerships. “We retain a small amount to maintain the platform,” states the site, “and the majority of the earned revenue is then distributed to charities, and essential causes selected by our users. Funds will be distributed every month based on our overall earnings for that month.”
Currently Sharitabl is running a Kickstarter campaign, raising funds to help with the development of their infrastructure and server resources. “If we beat our target we can expand our infrastructure and hire the people we’ll need to develop Sharitabl on other platforms,” states the campaign page.
“Our ultimate success will rely on the human spirit,” states the Kickstarter page. “We have the technological capability to build a robust platform, and if people are willing to shift for the benefit of humanity, then we are sure to succeed.”
