RealTech and Dallas Startup Week Join Forces this March

In just a couple of weeks, RealTech and Dallas Startup Week are joining forces.

We’re sure you’ve seen the banners downtown and tweets online — March 2-6 is Dallas Startup Week. RealTech will be at Common Desk that Monday to kick off the real estate track.

“There has never been a better time to innovate for the real estate industry, and Dallas is truly the best place in the country to do it,” said John Backes, who organizes RealTech and is captain of the real estate track for Dallas Startup Week.

“We wanted to create a track for Dallas Startup Week that felt like the ‘SXSW of Real Estate Startups,’ and build upon the positive momentum we have created that is creating real opportunities for startups, creatives, technologists, and real estate professionals,” said Backes.

“We have so much talent, momentum, and access to decision-makers here, and we wanted to put it all into one series.”

The RealTech Dallas: Startup Week Edition event is bringing the real estate industry to the Dallas startup community – after an introduction by Elie Finegold, SVP of Global Innovation for CBRE, six real estate startups will present six minute pitches focused on introducing their innovations to the real estate industry.

On Tuesday, March 3 at 8:30am, a series called “FlashTalks: the Future of Work and Real Estate Innovation,” will feature local and national topics, including collaborative space design, creative spaces, the real estate needs of startups, and 10 technologies that “will rock the real estate industry.”

On Wednesday, a “creative spaces party bus,” sponsored by Vela Keller, will tour a number of creative spaces in Dallas, including coworking, third spaces, new downtown tech company spaces, and flexible live/work environments. Immediately following is a happy hour at The Common Desk.

On Thursday, Michael Sitarzewski of Epic Playground will give a tour of the Dallas Underground Tunnels (yeah, we have those here).

There will also be a participatory 24 hour event, “Cultivate: The Next Big Thing in Real Estate,” to be hosted and moderated by real estate startup Roam Directories at the DEC. The event “will allow an open and diverse group of real estate professionals, creatives, technologists, architects, and entrepreneurs to think up solutions for the future of real estate.”
