Encore Vision Raises $5M

Fort Worth-based Encore Vision has just raised a $5M investment round according to an article posted by the DMN’s Hanah Cho this morning.

Encore Vision (EV) is developing a patented eye drop that treats presbyopia, which is a condition in which the lens of the eye loses its ability to focus, making it difficult to see objects up close.

The company’s treatment is directed at the biochemical cause of presbyopia and technology is based on “using the already present enzymes in the human lens to work with the EV’s proprietary components to return the lens to a more natural state.”

This is also the biggest deal so far for Cowtown Angels, which put $750,000 into the deal. Cowtown, launched last year as a program of Tech Fort Worth, has already invested more than $2M into 6 companies.
