FIRST FASHION TECHNOLOGY HACKATHON IN TEXAS
Technologists Capitalize on Growth of Online and Mobile Shopping
DALLAS– Tech startup, rewardStyle, will host the first fashion technology hackathon in Texas on April 5-7 at the company’s Dallas headquarters. Local hedge fund manager, Bernay Box, will participate as one of the judges. Winners will receive more than $5K in cash and prizes and the opportunity to pitch to the top 150 style publishers in the world as well as global retailers at rewardStyle’s private The Conference later that month.
The hackathon comes on the heels of several major announcements in the style-technology space, including: Pinterest closing a $200MM series D round and their launch of retailer analytics; Conde Nast leading a $20MM round in international boutique marketplace, Far Fetch; and Amazon’s announcement of a new mens-only fashion e-tailer, a brother site to womens-only Shopbop.com, who boasts $1B+ annual sales.
Forrester predicts U.S. online sales to increase 13% this year to $262B.
rewardStyle expects to host ten teams, each comprised of an idea person, a designer and a programmer. Registration is open to the public. To register visit hack.rewardStyle.com.
