SW Dallas Spawns Bookedd for World Domination

The 5th edition of Startup Weekend Dallas (SWD) culminated Sunday in an announcement by the judges that Bookedd won the grand prize.

Bolstered by a massive contingent of University of North Texas and University of Texas at Dallas students and faculty, this was the largest ever showing for SWD, with attendance approaching 100.

The 9 teams formed to work over the weekend included GoneBooking, Swappel, Cause.ly, Corollary, UserStage, DiscRiver, Culture Plus, and ViewMore (Board4.me).

3rd place went to GoneBooking, a user-driven, interactive alternative to traditional storytelling, 2nd place went to Corollary, offering better job matching through social profiles. The 1st place award went to Bookedd, a marketplace for last minute residential rental.

There are more details on the SWD website.

So what’s all this World Domination referred to in the headline? The Dallas winner is now competing with other SW winners around the globe in something called Global Startup Battle. They are competing for YOUR votes for a chance to go to the DEMO Conference in Singapore in February, a spot at the Launch Conference in SF in March, and several other awards and prizes. The contest ends on Nov 28th at 11pm Pacific Time. Do the local team a solid by voting for Bookedd. But hurry, you have less than 6 days left to vote.

Vote for Bookedd to show the world how awesome DFW entrepreneurship is and to give Dallas the recognition it deserves.

Or you can take a shortcut. Here’s Bookedd’s promo video, which has an easy-as-pie way to vote.
